Genesis is God’s creation of the world. Being “creation” Volturno Morani painted it in blue and its innumerable gradations. No Red, entirely red is the one who generated it but whom in this work we do not see in any of its forms, namely Father, Son or Holy Spirit.
There are really so many nuances and symbolism to be highlighted in this magnum opus. Work in which the author has attempted to encapsulate the majesty of creation.
At the center is man. The geometric, scientific, technological man. He who because he is created in the image and likeness of God also has the gift of building and loving to generate. Here is man placed at the center of the project! To the left of man a blue sun representing the light inspiring the actions of the one who stands at the center of God’s project; and behold 10 rays depart from this sun. 10 as the commandments given by God to man as suggestions for a joyful, happy and prosperous life. Commandments that run through every corner of creation, that apply everywhere. They also apply in the galaxies, in the Milky Way, which seems to be partially represented by the planets standing on the right side of the work. The representation of the galaxy, peripheral to man, stands to reinforce the centrality of our planet in God’s plan and thus the universality of Christ’s coming to Earth. This is cosmic Christocentrism.
In true neo-constructivist style the structures, which resemble palaces. It comes out in this foreshortening the constructivist origin, the orthodox coloring, the valence of the architect all together! Thus, in the right part of the work we find all of creation, galaxy and man’s constructions instead standing in the center. While on the left, with the sun and commandments the message that should inspire our actions.
Finally all to the left we find a kind of rift highlighted by thunderbolts drawn always in blue beyond which we find this nebula of waves hiding these eccentric circles, larger than the sun star…drawn always in blue…representing perhaps the universe beyond the galaxy, what we can only imagine, or today, see with very powerful telescopes. Yet even this universe is traversed by commandments, even this universe is peripheral to man. Spectacular to note how this work unfolds from the left to the right … to the right … as the way has shown us the one who stands at the right hand of the Father.
Truly great is the power attributed to man who follows the path laid out for him, because such greatness has been bestowed upon him by God the Father. This is the meaning of Genesis in the spatial NECOSTRUCTIVISM key. We have been placed by God at the center of the Universe to do great things in His love.
Thanks to Volturno Morani for reminding us that we are made to perform universal wonders. Let us question whether this is not happening in our lives. Yes because, as always, Spatial Neo-constructivism shows us space-time universes, contemplates the stars, the galaxies but most of all reveals how all this is connected with our daily lives. It has always been so…from the stars…to the barn…this is our Genesis. Let us also rediscover it through this work and live by performing the wonders for which we were created.
